Girl Scouts Katherine Payne Lodge Sign Restoration

Some old signs on an old building.  They didn’t want new signs, only restored signs.  The main sign was a couple of boards cut to look like broken boards and joined together with rusty corrugated fasteners.  The other was had cut letters on a capsule shaped board.  A couple of the letters were missing or broken.

Cleaning and prepping the signs was actually an adventure.  Both signs had been painted several times, even with new painted lettering – once with ‘Katherine’ spelled differently.  I confirmed the proper spelling before continuing.

Both signs, and the individual letters, were cleaned, filled, sanded, painted and relettered.  They still have the hand-made look, because they were certainly hand-made.  But now they have several more years of life and should see plenty more girl scouts pass by.
